LATE SUMMER RESTORATIVE YOGA WORKSHOP

WHAT IS RESTORATIVE YOGA?

Restorative Yoga is a style of yoga that takes place mainly on the ground. Using various props for support, we lay in long held postures for anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Through this quiet 90 minutes practice, we will create opportunities to unravel and settle the nervous system which ultimately fosters internal space so we can relax and let go.

I AM NEW TO YOGA/I AM NEW TO THIS STYLE OF PRACTICE.

That’s cool. Restorative Yoga is a wonderful introduction to the practice. Since it occurs close the floor and is slow and steady it is great for most practitioners.

I DON’T HAVE ANY YOGA PROPS?!

Don’t stress! We will use couch cushions, books, towels, and other found household objects to substitute for proper yoga props if you don’t have them. Take a look at the list below and try to gather these objects prior to the start of class.

WHAT DO I NEED?

  • A yoga mat

  • 2 yoga blocks (or two thick books - think Harry Potter, old school dictionaries or William Shakespeare’s complete works)

  • A yoga strap (or necktie, bathrobe belt, a regular belt, something that can hold a loop)

  • 2 smaller couch cushions/pillows OR a yoga bolster

  • 3 thick blankets or towels

  • A wall or a firm chair

  • A candle and lighter

  • A speaker for music and the Spotify app (if available…)
